“So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.” (Col. 3:5)
This morning while reading in Colossians, I was reminded of the moment when I truly gave Jesus all of me. It was when I came to the realization that I hadn’t actually been “putting to death” my sinful nature, but merely wounding it. There’s a big difference in heart transformation and behavior modification.
Ask God to help you deal with the root of your sin so that you can experience true freedom and healing. Pray like King David when he said, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my thoughts; see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.” (Psalm 139: 23-24)
My advice is to stop crawling off the altar.
Trust God, and sacrifice your flesh.
Die to self, and you’ll come alive in Christ.
