God With Us

“”Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Emmanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14

Names of God are one of my absolute favorite things to study. We have names for His compassion, grace, healing, provision, guidance, peace… the list goes on and on.

At Christmas time, Emmanuel is the perfect name for Jesus because it means “God with us.” This time of the year, we celebrate that God came to us through His son, Jesus. This is what Christmas is all about…it is the start of the Good News.

A similar name for God is “Jehovah – Shammah,” which means, “The Lord is there.”

He is there… as a loving Father.
He is there… as a faithful friend.
He is there… as courage when you’re afraid.
He is there… as your defender when attacked.
He is there… as the answer to your uncertainty.
He is there… as hope when you’re discouraged.
He is there… as peace when you’re overwhelmed.

He is there……
for true satisfaction when you’ve tried everything BUT Him.

HE IS THERE… never failing, always the same….yesterday, today and forever.

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” – Jeremiah 29:13

His presence is one of the greatest “presents” we could ever receive. His nearness is completely indispensable to true joy and fulfillment.

Emmanuel–God is with us!! Take time to be in God’s presence today and be blessed in the name of Jehovah-Shammah, the Lord who promises to be present with you always. (Eze. 48:35) – “I’m A Lover Of Your Presence,” by Bryan & Katie Torwalt
