Promise Keeper
“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.” – 2 Corinthians 1:20 NLT
Yesterday Brian taught about Jesus being our ultimate gift. He explained how God promised our rescue from the beginning. Did you know that directly after the fall of Adam and Eve, God was already declaring His plan for our salvation?
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he (Jesus) shall bruise your head, and you (Satan) shall bruise his heel.” - Genesis 3:15
The plot continues throughout history…
"Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch (JESUS!) to spring forth for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.' – Jeremiah 33:14-16
The prophecies were fulfilled AS PROMISED, through the birth of Jesus Christ... “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel (God with us!)." - Isaiah 7:14
The prophecies were fulfilled through the death of Jesus Christ...“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16;1
...and the prophecies were fulfilled through the resurrection of Jesus Christ! “And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus... He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body WAS lying." - Luke 24:2-3; 6
God has kept ALL of His promises since the beginning of time and He's STILL keeping them. This Christmas let us REJOICE in a God who keeps His promises to us, even if it means sacrificing His one and only son.
Let us rejoice in a God whose word does NOT return void. (Isaiah 55:10-11) Let us rejoice in a God who does not fail... who is constant... who is trustworthy. Let us rejoice in our good and FAITHFUL God… the realization of our every need, hope, and desire.
