Rest of Heart in the Midst of Activity

Rest of Heart in the Midst of Activity

The holiday season can be a bit chaotic for us all. I don’t know about you, but my “to do’s” often feel endless and I sometimes find myself overwhelmed by the tasks at hand.

It’s easy to get burnt out and overloaded, especially when we try to do it all in our own strength. We aren’t supposed to depend on ourselves, we were created to draw on the infinite sources that are in Christ.

“Jesus said, Come to ME, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find REST for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)

Sometimes the struggles and stresses of life can really weigh us down and drain our energy, but Jesus tells us that in the midst of it all, rest is found in Him.

Most of us break down simply because we are carrying all our own burdens and all our own problems. We are even sleeping with them, allowing them to crowd our minds. (Nervous strain can also come from assuming a responsibility for things that were never intended to be carried by us.)

Ask God to help you, today. When we find ourselves tired, overwhelmed or discouraged, there is a supernatural source to draw power from… the Holy Spirit.

‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ – Jesus

“So now I (Paul) am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me… when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-11

Remember, far too often we try to do everything on our own, but don’t be surprised if that leads to burn out. We can be fruitful and productive without having breakdowns when it is not our activity, but HIS.

Draw from the Lord’s strength this season & REST IN HIM! It is a wonderful rest.

“Rest of heart in the midst of activity, such is the life of adventure with the Savior.”
